RoBOts!!!1!

Hello faithful readers of the greatest blog in this universe.
I am here to inform you of something I have been obsessed with for a long time. Robots.

Robots have been a deep passion of mine and I have always wanted to do something with them. Recently my passion has re-emerged for 2 reasons. Reason 1 is that for my recent birthday, I received a book on electronics and how to make them. It's a really basic book that really lays out a firm foundation on how electronics work. Reason 2 is that I recently watched the movie Real Steel. This movie was surprisingly good for a g-rated movie and also had a key aspect that me and many other geeks quite enjoy. Robot fighting.

...mmmm sweet metallic death
As I grew up i watched hours upon hours of robot wars; a televised robot fighting competition. I always watched and wished that someday I would  be able to join a competition like that. Possibly that day is not very far away and you guys will see me enter a robot into one of the very many competitions out there like the Combots competition.

I have more than a small attraction to the A.I field, and would love to be able to work there, advancing robotics in any way, until an I,Robot like advancement is made possible(minus the whole, killing and scariness, :p).

As an aside, Real Steel was really quite a good movie, so as long as you don't mind seeing a robot punch a bull in the face, or other Doomsday like people getting their robots processing unit smashed in, you will like it. There is also an endearing father-son bonding element that happens as the story progresses and Hugh Jackman makes a nice anti-hero. For those who have no idea what i'm talking about, a trailer can be found below this post. So goodbye and for my robo-friends out there,

  3. Hey Patrick!

I am so happy to learn that I wasn't the only soul in the world who watched Robot Wars. I remember in Sec II, we had to make a Powerpoint and make a presentation to the class about ''who we were.'' I decided to include in my presentation a slide on my passion for Robot Wars and my favorite robot (ie. Chaos II!)The class laughed at me so badly! Ahahahaha! The T.A. was actually really great about it and stood up for me! :D

As a side note, if you would like to talk to someone about A.I., I know Jason is really into that these days.

Also, Ruby is right (as always! :))! Your posts are interesting, Pat!
